It all started at the domed splendour of The Hanbury Ballroom, Brighton back in 2002. The Kroon Kat Lounge came alive and thrived. The crowd of swells, swelled night after night. Word spread until dancefloor space was at a premium. No room to swing a Kat. Man, we couldn’t have that! We looked for a place to stay that began with a ‘K’. Hey, upstairs at The Komedia, Gardner Street. Neat! The Lounge is larger, the band is bigger and the Tribe just love the new vibe.
Illuminated by Las Vegas neon as Viscount of Vinyl; James Grillo cooks up his toe-tapping blend of Mambo, Latin, Jazz and Swing. Sassy cigarette girl Heidi Heelz circulates in top hat and tails. A giant movie screen glows with images from the golden era of Hollywood. . . .Marilyn, Mitchum and the fine Fred Astaire. Suave and sophisticated, the audience sip their cocktails. There are Ballgowns and Basques, Zoot suits and spats and cravats. Man, these hepcats are so hot; they’re cool daddio!

There's dancing and chatter till the Floorshow at nine. Then, The HepKat Huzzahs hit the stage. Led by the fabulous Miss Nicky Mitchell with charm and chat and guitar. This star has a voice so strong and sweet, even the birds stop to listen. Bobby Heasman on horn rips up a storm as the Huzzahs lay down their big band beat. With all this heat, we're now in the mood for a cavalcade of top krooning talent that is the unique chic, The Lounge has on tap. There's Grant Fultano, Magdalena and George Williams, Dolly Rockets, Gala and a Galaxy of Stars who shine sublime from nine. One after another they take to the stage. Swinging from Torch to Scat to Smooch to please. Sinatra, The Dean, Billie Holiday and Simone are smiling down on us. Burlesque babes then swing their thing and seaside cream tease has never tasted so sweet. There is a whole lot more on the floor but hey, you gotta just soak it up as our Viscounts of Vinyl, James Grillo and Blu Rondo spin shark fin sharp platter cuts, no ifs no buts and all the while our queen of style, Heidi Heelz circulates with her array on a tray - This is live, this is glamour. This is retro but so, so now.

If rhythm were money, we’d all be Buddy Rich - Graham Fingers
